Lydia Kirkpatrick was the wife of Thomas Sumpter, sometimes spelled Sumter.

Line 1: "Knoxville Tn May 6, 1892"
Lines 2 thru 12: "Capt. Jack Anderson born June 12, 1804 in Pendleton (dist.?) S.C. & his wife Polly born Dec. 6. 1807 in Knox County Tn & was the daughter of Thos. Sumpter a nephew of Genl. Thos. S. who imigrated to and settled on (Braves ?) about 1790 (when the fort in that neighborhood was erected)....Thos. S. the nephew of Genl T.S. was married to Liddy Kirkpatrick – he lived so near to (Ransoome?) Mills Lincoln County N.C. He volunteered when 16 years old _ was fife..."
Line: 27 – "Died & buried in Knox County near Pledge H...?
Line 28 thru 32: "If Captain A. after thinking over the traditions & memories and his wifes brother Thos. S. the nephew_ making further search for the bible (unknown) of the family of his brother-in-law finds any thing (unknown) or important for you he will furnish it to me & I will immediately (handprint?)"
P2, lines 1 thru 3:"I immediately walked over to North (Knoxville?) to see Captain Jack Anderson & his wife."
P2, lines 6 thru 7: "Wrote to him (Captain Anderson) requesting him to come to my house. He did so to day."
