OBITUARY RAN TWICE ON SAME PAGE WITH SOME DIFFERENCES. One has her as "Mrs. J. E. Kirby". The other has her as Mrs. John L. Kirby.
TEXT OF OBITUARY: (October 20, 1968)
Mrs. J.E. Kirby
GAFFNEY--Mrs. Margaret W. Stacy Kirby, 91, of Route 3, died 12:10 a.m. Saturday in Cherokee Memorial Hospital after long illness.
Member of Limestone Street Methodist Church where she was the oldest member; charter member of Order of Eastern Star; daughter of the late Abner and Ruth Ann Pettit (sic) Waters; married first to the late Sen. Richmond Stacy and later to the late Jolen (sic) Earl Kirby.
Survivors: daughters, Mrs. R.D. Scruggs of Spartanburg, Mrs. Frank Gooch of Spartanburg, Mrs. Heber Black of Gaffney; sons, Vaudee of Griffin, R.G. of Gaffney, Wofford of Gaffney; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Services 2:30 today at the Shuford-Hatcher Chapel by the Rev. Bob Monson, Otis McKinney; burial in Waters Cemetery in Cowpens.
Pallbearers: Solon Scruggs, Glenn, Danny, Ricky Stacy, Hugh Black and Marshall Gooch.

Mrs. Kirby died Saturday.
