TEXT OF OBITUARY: (May 18, 1947)
James E. Waters
COWPENS, May 17--James E. Waters, 87, retired farmer active in community life here, died at a Spartanburg hospital Saturday night after a brief illness.
A life-long resident of Cowpens, he was a member of the Salem Methodist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Ida Waters; one son, Edward C. Waters of Cowpens; 5 daughters, Mrs. E.O. Martin, Mrs. W.C. Wilkins, Mrs. B.T. Martin, Mrs. L.D. Ezell, all of Cowpens, and Mrs. W.A. Klutz of Gastonia, N.C.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Sallie Davis of Chesnee and Mrs. Sunie Counts of Smoaks; also, 9 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the M.W. Bobo Funeral Chapel.

J. Edd Waters Funeral Today
COWPENS, May 18--Funeral services for J. Edd Waters, 87, retired farmer who died last night after a brief illness, will be held Monday afternoon at 4 at his Cowpens home, conducted by the Revs. Robert C. Pettus and J.G. Huggin. Burial will be in the Waters Family Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The body will remain at the home until the hour of burial.
A life-long resident of Cowpens, Mr. Waters was a member of Salem Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Waters; one son, Edward C. Waters of Converse; 5 daughters, Mrs. E.O. Martin, Mrs. W.C. Wilkins, Mrs. V.T. Martin adn Mrs. L.D. Ezell, all of Cowpens, and Mrs. W.A. Kluttz of Gastonia; 3 sisters, Mrs. Sunie Counts of Smoaks, Mrs. Sallie Davis of Gaffney, and Mrs. Mrs. Margaret Kirby of Gaffney; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
The M.W. Bobo Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
