ADAMS - James A. "Red," 76, of East Taylor Township, passed away Nov. 27, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born Sept. 13, 1930, in St. Augustine, Pa., son of Marcellus and Helena (Adams) Adams. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Helen M.; brothers, Thomas, Donald, Patrick, Paul and Russell; sisters, Doris Adams and Elizabeth Niebauer; and infant brothers and sisters, Robert, Raymond and Naomi. Survived by children: Darlene, wife of Michael Mayer, Johnstown; Marlene, wife of Terry Connelly, Indiana, Pa.; Kevin, married to the former Teresa Mesaros, East Taylor Township; Perry W., Johnstown; and Lisa, wife of Matthew Hagerich, East Taylor Township; also grandchildren, Adam, and wife, Lea; Amy and Michael Mayer; Clerissa and Janell Connelly; Tabitha, Kayla and Tasha Adams; and Kara, Morgan and Rebecca Hagerich; siblings, Leona Hertzberg, Valhalla, N.Y.; Marguerite Hricko, Altoona; Shirley Drzal, Elmora; Harold, Alexandria, Va.; Clarence "Bugs," Patton; Mildred Turnbull, Milford, N.J.; Edgar "Ted," Kissimmee, Fla.; Lillian "Teenie" Noel, Ashville; and Thelma Donohue, Ashville. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. James was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel as a crane operator. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, watching the Lawrence Welk show and keeping his yard manicured. James was a loving husband, father and grandfather that enjoyed being at home surrounded by his family. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229 First Street, Conemaugh, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 219 Oak Street, Conemaugh, the Rev. Father Paul Robine. Committal will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with military rites by local military organizations. Family suggests memorial contributions may be directed to Asera Care Hospice, Regency Square, Old Route 22, Suite 203, Altoona, Pa. 16602.
