MISSOURI VALLEY, Dec. 29. -- W. D. Cody, 71, resident of Missouri Valley for more than a half century, died at his home at 315 North First street at noon Wednesday from heart trouble, following a long period of ill health.
Mr. Cody came to this country in 1880 and settled in Harrison county April 18, 1881. He was employed as chief clerk in the master mechanic's office, leaving that post in 1902 to become associated with W. J, Burke in the State bank here. He went with Mr. Burke to the Valley Savings bank, where he was assistant cashier until 1921, when he retired because of ill health.
Mr. Cody leaves, besides the widow, a brother in England, a brother in Ireland, a sister in Montana, a brother, John, formerly of Missouri Valley, now of Kansas City, and eight children.
They are: Mrs. Roy Epperson of Missouri Valley, Miss Irene Cody of Sioux City, Frances Cody of Evanston, Ill., William Cody of Omaha, Mrs. Tim Ryan of Volva City, Ia., Mrs. D. J. Robinson of Wichita, Edward of Green Bay, Wis., and D. M. Cody, city clerk of Missouri Valley.
