In 1940, the Codys were living at 315 Frist St., Missouri Valley, Iowa. D.M. and his widowed mother, Susan E., had been living there in 1935, and Josephine became part of the family. The 1940 US Census lists:

Sadly, D.M. died, and Josephine's last legal residence was in Columbus, Nebraska.
