Little Girl Burned To Death In Newnan
The three year old daughter of Hon. T.E. Atkinson was frightfully burned Monday while playing around the fireplace, and lived only three hours after the accident. Two of the children were in care of the cook, as Mrs. Atkinson was ill in an upstairs room.
The negro woman being called to the front door returned to find the elder child, Virginia, in flames. Snatching the child up she ran into the hall and cried for help, which brought Mrs. Mabson, a roomer in the house to the rescue, and with rugs wrapped around the child the flames were extinguished. But too late as the child had inhaled the flames.
