Mr. Jim Hickson Dead
Mr. James A. Hickson died at his home in Perry last Thursday night, February 11th.
Funeral services at the home Thursday afternoon by Rev. J.W. Tiuley [?], and the burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends attended the exercises, paying their last tribute of respect.
Mr. Hickson had been in ill health at least a year, but was not seriously ill until about two weeks prior to his death.
He came to Houston county in 1866 from Pike county, having served a year in the confederate army.
He was a farmer all his life and he knew the business thoroughly and was energetic and enterprising in his methods. During the last several years he was a resident of Perry.
A man of firm convictions and true to his obligations, a firm friend and excellent neighbor.
He is survived by his devoted wife [2nd], one brother and one sister, Mr. Seabern W. Hickson of Houston county and Mrs. C.T. Simmons of Snow, Dooly county. The offspring of his parents were six brothers and four sisters.
The bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.

Buried at the side of Nettie Hickson, his 1st wife. Confederate soldier from Georgia. Served in the 1st Regiment, Georgia Reserves (Fannin's) Co., G as a Sergeant.
He is listed as a farmer in the 1900 census for Houston Co., GA.
In the 1910 census, he is found with his 2nd wife Melvina to whom he had been married 1 year.
I did find a CW pension record dated 1912 and the notice where he married Melvina Davidson Wallace in 28 Feb. 1909, Upson Co., GA She is buried in the Hickson Cemetery

They quote his Confederate Service Record from Fold3 and his pension records as sources, saying he enlisted early in 1864 and was discharged in Dec 1864. He was a private in Company G of the First GA Reserves, AKA Fannin's regt. See cgr.scv.org for Houston County , GA.
