Joseph R. Balo, 89, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eloise Matt, 301 Hamilton Ave., following a one-year illness.
Born March 7, 1877, in Adams Mills, he was a son of David and Maria Newell Balo. On Feb. 7, 1900 he was married to Elizabeth Roahrig who survives.
Mr. Balo had been a lifelong farmer and resident of the Adams Mills-Conesville vicinity. He was a member of the Conesville Methodist Church and a charter member of the Adams Mills Grange.
One son, two sisters, and one brother are deceased.
