Graveside services for Dr. Gardner H. Abner, 86, Logansport, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Providence Cemetery in Austin, Ind.

He died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at his residence.

Born April 6, 1922, in Buckhorn, Ky., he was the son of Willis and Clara Rice Abner. He was married Feb. 14, 1985, in Florida, to Elaine Wilkinson, who survives.

Dr. Abner was a retired Logansport optometrist. He graduated from Austin High School in Austin, Ind., and from the Illinois College of Optometry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.

Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Sarah Wilkinson Stajduhar (Michael), Charleston, W.Va.; one brother, Dr. Linton Abner, Lake Worth, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. David Burnett will officiate. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery, Austin.
