Ada Priest Barfield, 95, of Marietta passed away Monday, September 30, after a long illness. Born and raised in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Lou Ella Ragsdale Priest and Harrison Emmit Priest. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Eugene Hollis Barfield, in 2003, and her son, Michael Eugene Barfield, in 1995. She was preceded in death by seven brothers (Dilmos, Alvin, Herbert, Lemon, Roy, Earl, and J. D. Priest) and four sisters (Laura Pauline Newton, Ruby Randolph, Mae Harkins, and Maude Garrett Blackstock). She is survived by her daughter, Carol Barfield O'Toole, and her husband, Martin Kenneth O'Toole, of Marietta; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Barfield of Marietta and Lauren Elizabeth Barfield of Asheville, NC; daughter-in-law, Rita Barfield Redmon, and her husband, Donald Redmon, of Marietta; sisters-in-law Dorothy Priest of Dallas, Betty Jo Priest of Mableton, and Agnes Barfield of Smyrna; and, many beloved nieces and nephews. The family was blessed to have her love and affection for so many years. Her love for Christ, her church, and her family were the most important things in her life. She lived her life to serve others. Mrs. Barfield was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta. Sincere thanks is extended to her special caregiver, Rene Price, of Acworth. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, 180 Church Street, Marietta, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, with Rev. Clayton J. Mixon and Rev. Dr. Henry M. Hope, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
