Earl "Pap" Paul of Pioneer passed away October 1, 2013 after a short illness, he was 87 years old. Known as "Pap" to most of his family and friends, Pap was born May 16, 1926 in the Block community. Pap was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for many years as a drywall finisher in Tennessee and Florida. Preceded in death by the love of his life, Juanita (Elkins), they spent their retirement years doing what they loved: fishing, gardening, rescuing animals, and spending time with their family. Pap was a member of the New Canaan Baptist Church and enjoyed the services held there. For all that knew him, whether you called him Earl, Pap, Dad or Papaw, we will all miss his stories which he told with such enthusiasm and kept his audience entertained and laughing. Pap was also preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Hester Smith Paul; brother, Harry Paul and sisters, Marie Vitatoe and Zonia Copeland. Survivors included: loving daughters, Connie Baker and husband Ed of Jacksboro and Pattie Thrasher of Pioneer; 3 grandchildren who loved spending their childhood summers in the "hole": Becky Orick (Kenny) of Caryville, Jackie Lemarr (Tim) of Lake City and Jeremy Baker (Miranda) of Jacksboro; 6 great grandchildren: Taylor, Brady, Logan, Maddie, Abbie and Dolan; sister Betty Lawson of Oliver Springs. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to New Canaan Baptist Church PO Box 2 Pioneer, TN 37847.

Martin Wilson Funeral Home of LaFollette is in charge of these arrangements.
