LaVon "Bonnie" Dobson was born on August 3, 1931 to John and Florence (Stevens) Herman in Bertha, Minnesota. She passed away, at the age of 76, on June 27, 2008 at the Staples Care Center in Staples. Bonnie was united in marriage to Patrick Dobson on December 24, 1948. Patrick is also a resident of the Staples Care Center. Bonnie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching Minnesota Twins baseball, and visiting with her family. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence; sister, Leone "Onnie" Herman; brothers, Birt and Marty Herman; and granddaughter, Megan Dobson. She is survived by her husband, Patrick ; 4 children, Dorothy and Gary Mertens of Staples, Rodney Dobson of Little Falls, Billie and Terry Dobson, and Brian and Kathy Dobson, all of Staples; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Patty Hagen of Englewood, CO; and brothers, Gene (Vonnie) Herman of Fayetteville, NC, Kirk (Carol) Herman of Fridley, Jack (Pat) Herman, and Donnie (Julieann) Herman of all of Spring Lake Park. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, at the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel in Verndale with Reverend Mark Shuey officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Mertens Jr., Chad Mertens, Creig Dobson, Brett Dobson, and Cyle Dobson. Honorary Pallbearers were Rodney Dobson, Billie Dobson, Brian Dobson, and Gary Mertens Sr. Interment was at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
