Inga, originally Ingrid, was the fourth of eight children born to Ole Hansen (from Bekkestuen under Kaggerud) and Kari Stenersdatter Lilleespe. Ole and Kari lived on Kari's home farm of North Lilleespe in Heidal, Oppland County, Norway. Ingrid was born 4 Mar 1890 at North Lilleespe and baptized at the Heidal church 8 June 1890. Her mother died 24 Sept 1900. Ingrid was confirmed at the Heidal church 1 May 1904.

In 1905, Inga came to America with six of her siblings to join their father and youngest brother, who came a few months earlier. The seven siblings departed Oslo 6 Oct 1905 on the SS Montebello, which took them to Hull, England. They departed Liverpool 11 Oct 1905 on the SS Teutonic, which took them to New York. On the passenger lists, Inga is called Inger Olsen Kaggerud.

They arrived at Ellis Island 19 Oct 1905, and then joined their father at Emmons, MN (on the Iowa border). They possibly moved to Burke County in northwest North Dakota that fall. On the 1910 census (28 Apr), Inga lived at 120 Ramstad in Minot, ND, with her sister Sena.

Inga married John Holton in Minot, ND, 28 May 1910. Their son Joseph was born in ND in about May 1911. They probably lived at 2317 or 2319 Washington Ave N in Minneapolis by December 1911, as Inga's sister Mattie, who lived with them, died in Mpls then (of pulmonary tuberculosis). Inga was admitted to Hopewell Hospital in Mpls 24 Aug 1912, about the same time her son Joseph was admitted to City Hospital. Inga died of pulmonary tuberculosis at Hopewell Hospital 15 Nov 1912. Joseph died of the same cause at City Hospital four months later.
