Margaret "Joan" Vestal Eakin age 75 of Strong, AR passed from this life on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at her niece's home in Strong. Joan was born on May 3, 1939 in Strong to the late Alma Earnestine (Hendrix) Vestal and Eldred Lavell Vestal. Joan was a homemaker and a longtime member of Union Methodist Protestant Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a family oriented lady and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Earnestine Vestal; grandparents, Ernest and Alma Hendrix and John and Onie Vestal.
Those left to cherish her memory include; her husband of 58 years, Leo W. Eakin of Strong; son, Randy Eakin and wife Tarna of Buffalo, TX; daughter, Lea Ann Matthews and husband Gary of Crosby, TX; brother, Mouzon Vestal and wife Tip of Strong; grandson, Harley Eakin of Buffalo; granddaughter, Hannah Eakin of Buffalo; nephew, Johnny Vestal and wife Deborah of Strong; niece, Susie Hicks and husband Charlie of Strong; great nephew, John Mark Vestal of Strong; great niece, Melissa Boykin and husband Shay of Strong; two aunts, Grace Calloway of Strong and Delores Vestal of Strong.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Union Methodist Protestant Church in Strong.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Union Methodist Protestant Church with Bro. Donald Ray Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Teel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado
