Margaretha was born in Laudenbach, Baden, Germany to Friedrich Dittler, a laborer of Laudenbach and Katharina Margaretha Eberle. She married Philipp Bausch, a surgeon of Hemsbach, son of Adam Bausch and Eva Webel, on 11 October 1857 in Hemsbach. They had 5 children born in Germany,Eva Katharina, Philipp Daniel, Carl, Adolph Joseph & Anna Katharina. The family emmigrated to the United States on the S.S. Atalanta. They arrived in New York on 25 March 1867. The family settled in Illinois near Taylor Ridge, Edgington and Reynolds. They had 3 more children born in Rock Island, IL, Stephen, Elizabeth & Margaret. Later they lived in Wisconsin and in Iowa. They had 3 children born in Iowa, Heinrich, Friedrich and Adam. They also lived at Leigh, NE. They homesteaded in Holt County, north of Atkinson, NE in 1885. They had one son, Wilhelm, born in Atkinson.
