Oneonta, Otsego Co., NY—Saturday, 8 September 2008

 

SIDNEY [Delaware Co., NY]—Harvey C. Alford, of Sidney and North Lauderdale, Fla., passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, in North Lauderdale, Fla., after a long illness.

           A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sidney, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, to be followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery, Harpursville.

           Harvey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia; daughters, Michelle MacPherson (husband, Nelson) of Sidney, Marcia Clinton of Lyons, Colo.; sons, Mark Alford (wife, Jennifer) of North Lauderdale, Fla., Matthew Alford (wife, Wendy) of Pinebluff, N.C.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Alford of Binghamton; and many nieces and nephews.

           He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Alford of Afton.

           Harvey was a World War II veteran and retired from Bendix Corporation in Sidney after 30 years of service.

           He was an active member and past commander of the American Legion post in Sidney and Harpursville. He was a life member of the Sidney Elks Lodge.

           In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sidney, or the American Legion, Sidney.
