Memorial services for Floretta Schwanz of McMinnville will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in the McMinnville Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Richard Ives will officiate.
Arrangements are through Autumn Funerals and Cremations in Tigard.
Mrs. Schwanz died of cancer on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, in McMinnville. She was 79.
Born in Fairmont, W.Va., on Oct. 26, 1925, she was the daughter of William F. and Sophronia A. (Himelrick) Anderson. She was one of 14 children in the family.
She married Emil E. Schwanz in 1949, in Los Angeles. She lived in La Puente, Calif., until 2002, when she moved in with a daughter and son-in-law in McMinnville.
Until her retirement, she worked as a quality control supervisor for Calmar Inc. She was a member of the LDS church.
The family said she was a warm and loving mother and grandmother. She was funny, witty and full of laughter, the family said.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty R. Schwanz of McMinnville; a son David E. Schwanz of La Puenta, Calif.; three sisters, Martha M. Carico of Huntington, W.Va., Reva R. Moews of Fontana, Calif., and Dorothy V. Ervin of Lebec, Calif.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971 and by her other 11 siblings.
