Lawrence D. Goodwin, 72, a native of Sunville and the father of Mrs. Verna G. Truby, of Oil City, was found dead in his residence at 834 North Main Street, Meadville, Monday night.

Crawford County Coroner, Dr. Sherman L. Watson, estimated the time of death at 8 a.m. Monday. He said death was caused by a coronary thrombosis and that he would issue a verdict of death by natural causes.

Goodwin was found by a neighbor, Carl E. Benson and Goodwin's housekeeper, Mrs. Laura Shay.

Benson said Mrs. Shay returned from a trip and found the house locked. She went to Benson's side of the duplex where Goodwin lived and Benson unlocked the door for her. They found a light on in the bathroom and found Goodwin there, Benson said.

Meadville City police were called and report there was no evidence of foul play.

Goodwin had served 14 years as secretary-treasurer of Patrons Mutual Fire Assn. Before moving to Meadville, he operated a dairy farm near Sunville.

A native of Sunville, he was born Feb. 22, 1885, a son of David and Nancy Goodwin. He married the former Myrta Lesh. She died in October, 1954.

He was a member of Sunville Methodist Church, Meadville Lions Club and Sugarcreek Grange.

Surviving are a son, Norman L. of Bethel Park; a daughter, Mrs. Verna G. Truby, of Oil City; a grandson, Richard, of Bethel Park and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the William Funeral Home, Chapmanville.
