Obituary:

Clemence R. Briolat, 71, of Cass City died Sunday, Nov. 15, at Hills and Dales Hospital.

He was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Bingham Township, Huron County, the son of Roman and Pauline (Pollum) Briolat.

He married Miss Frances Klebba Sept. 16, 1941 in Parisville making their home in Ubly and coming to Cass City in 1972.

Briolat, a farmer for many years, had been employed by Cass City High School, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, AARP and St. Pancratius Catholic Church of Cass City.

He is survived by his wife Frances; one son, Marvin Briolat and wife Tracy of Davison; 5 daughters, Mrs. Marion White and husband Larry of Frankenmuth, Mrs. Rita Judd and husband Thomas of Birch Run, Mrs. Gloria Michalski and husband David of Ubly, Mrs. Yvonne Edzik and husband Gary of Cass City, and Mrs. Loretta Smalley and husband Marvin of Ruth; a foster son, Maurice De Smit of New Hampshire; 6 sisters, Mrs. Stanley Glaza and Mrs. Richard Krug, both of Ubly, Mrs. Kenneth Sawle of Warren, Mrs. Frank Mattis of Dearborn Heights, Mrs. Martha Krug of Bad Axe and Mrs. Raymond Gibson of Warren; one brother, Ervin Briolat of Ubly; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Henry and Stanley and 2 sisters, Irene and Anna, preceded him in death.

A Rosary was recited Tuesday at Little's Funeral Home, Cass City. Funeral services were to be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Father Paul Balla, pastor, officiating.

Interment was to be in Elkland Cemetery, Cass City.
