Adeline Cole

Adeline Cole, 92, formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, in Tampa, Fla.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to The Shriners' Crippled Children's Hospital.

Mrs. Cole was born Oct. 18, 1904, in Boone, the daughter of Andrew and Ida Hartquist Johnson. She was raised in Boone. She married Charles G. "Buck" Cole Sept. 1, 1928, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They moved to Fairfield in 1945. In 1995 they moved to Bradenton, Fla. Mrs. Cole received her bachelor of arts degree from Parsons College and taught school in Boone, Fort Dodge and Fairfield. She was an honorary member of the National PTA, a member of First United Methodist Church, the local and state teachers association, and Delta Zeta. She also was past president of White Shrine and past worthy matron of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Donna Davison of Bardenton and Darnell Schmitz of Waukegan, Ill.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister in infancy and one brother, Bernard Johnson.
