MRS. ANNA VAN ESSEN
Mrs. Anna Van Essen passed away March 9, 1942, after several months of severe illness, at her home, 2 1/2 miles east of Otley, at the age of 72 years.
On February 22, 1888, she was united in marriage to Nicholas Van Essen, who preceded her in death on February 26, 1934. She was the daughter of Fijke and Emma Hiemstra.
She is survived by three daughters and seven sons, namely, Artie Hiemstra, Marie Kamerick, Robert, Otto and John all of Otly, Frank, Henry and Emma of Pella, and Martin and Art of Prairie City, Iowa, She also leaves 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. L. Vos and Mrs. Gerrit De Vries, and one brother Martin of Pella.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 12, 1942, at the Otley Reformed Church with Rev. Morris Folkert in charge. Interment at Graceland cemetery.
