Wilcox owned and operated the Midway Restaurant of Pennsboro for
many years. She had been an employee of the West Virginia Department of
Highways District 3 of Parkersburg, was a secretary at the Colin
Anderson Center at S. Marys, and was formerly the city clerk of St.
Marys.
She was active in community activities in the Davenport Mobile
Home Park of Haines, Fla. She was a 1932 graduate of Pennsboro High
School and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 26,
also of Pennsboro.
She was born in Pennsboro, a daughter of the late Robert Meade
and Effie Mae Hill Mayfield.
She is survived by her husband, Dwight Ernest Wilcox; two
daughters, Elinore Sole and Judith Powell, both of Belmont; several
nieces and nephews, including Nancy Mayfield and Virginia Games, both
of Pennsboro; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral
Home, Pennsboro, with the Rev. Ralph Kisner officiating. Burial will be
in Mount Harmony Masonic Cemetery of Pennsboro.
