Corporal Cox was a member the 1st Squad, 1st Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy at Jukmi Pass, three miles north of Osan, South Korea as a member of "Task Force Smith" on July 5, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.
