JANESVILLE — Margaret L. "Marge" Carson, age 80, of 828 Blaine Ave., passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 18, 2003, at Cedar View Health Center following a long illness. She was born on April 11, 1923, in Morton, IL, daughter of the late Ernest and Minnie (Raebel) Allenspach. She graduated from high school and was a graduate of Bradley University, class of 1948, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in home economics, graduating with Cum Laude honors. After her graduation, Marge taught home economics in the Peoria, IL, school district. She then worked as a research librarian for the Peoria Public Library System until moving to Janesville in 1952. She worked for Borg Instruments in Janesville. On July 25, 1946, she married John L. Carson in Cedar Rapids, IA. Marge was very active in bowling and golf leagues in Janesville, and very much enjoyed working with Junior Bowlers. It was through Marge's hard work that the Junior Girls Bowling Program started in Janesville at Kressen's Lanes. After Kressen's closed she continued working with the Junior Program at Playmore Bowl. Marge also won the Championship in the Janesville Municipal Golf League several years in a row. She and John loved traveling south in the winter for several weeks at a time, and also enjoyed traveling to many different destinations to bowl in regional and national tournaments. She is survived by her husband, John; her sister, Bernice Weeks; her 2 brothers, Ben Allenspach and Joe Allenspach; nieces and nephews; and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Dorothy Zimmerman and Esther Lahr. A Memorial Service celebrating Marge's life will be scheduled in October at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Chapel, where inurnment will take place. The WHITCOMB-LYNCH-OVERTON FUNERAL HOME is assisting her family with arrangements.
