• Benjamin Faulkner of Halifax Co., VA, Montgomery Co., TN and Trigg Co., KY has often been confused with his cousin Benjamin Faulkner who married Susannah Blane in 1800 in Halifax Co., VA. However, Susannah's husband Benjamin, son of Jacob Faulkner, died in Halifax Co., VA in 1810, as can be documented in court records of that county.
• Susannah Blane Faulkner, widow of Benjamin Faulkner who died in 1810, next married William Coates, who also died in Halifax Co. The widow Susannah Blane Faulkner Coates came to Trigg Co., KY in the late 1820s with her children, who can be documented in records in Trigg Co., Ballard Co., and McCracken Co., KY: Ephraim, Jacob, James, Elizabeth, Matilda, Peggy and William H. Faulkner and Thomas Coates (by her second marriage). Susannah Blane Faulkner Coates never remarried and is last found in on the 1850 census in Ballard Co., KY.
• Benjamin Faulkner in this memorial, who was originally from Halifax Co., VA, came to Trigg Co., KY about 1825 by way of Montgomery Co., TN. No children have been documented for Benjamin and his wife Jane. His Trigg Co., KY will names only his wife Jane and no children have been found in probate records of his estate.
• Benjamin and his wife Jane died within one day of each other in 1845 and are buried side by side with above-ground vaults (now crumbled) covering their graves in Wallonia Cemetery. Presumably, they were buried underground and the vaults were memorials.
• Benjamin was the son of Johnson/John Faulkner, likely the brother of Jacob Faulkner and son of Benjamin Faulkner who died in 1783 in Halifax Co., VA. More research is needed to document his father because more than one John/Johnson Faulkner lived in Halifax Co., VA in the late 1700s-early 1800s.
