Funeral service for Julia Burrell, 96, will be Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso First Christian Church with Pastor Mickey Johnson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Valhermoso Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Miss Burrell died on Monday, October 21, 2013, at her residence. She was born November 18, 1916, in Morgan County to Theo Burrell and Burdie Overstreet Burrell. Julia was an only child and never married. She was a retired school teacher and taught for 33 years. She was 26 years old when she started teaching in 1943 at Union Hill School. She taught at Cotaco School and then retired from West Huntsville Elementary in June of 1976. She was well traveled throughout the world. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Billy Oakes, Fred Jennings, Brett Bramlett, Jeff Holmes, James Russell and Elliott McAnally.

A special thanks to Olene Dudley and Bobby Sue Borden for their excellent care.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Valhermoso Springs.
