He was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Dorr, Mich., to Richard C. and Louisa R. (Proudfoot) Worm. He married Bessie M. Aavang on March 4, 1939, in Woodstock.
He owned a dairy farm in Greenwood Township, where he lived and worked with his family. He was a lifetime member of Associated Milk Producers Inc. and the McHenry County Farm Bureau. He also was a member of the Holstein Friesian Association of America.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock. He loved to fly-fish, throw horseshoes, play baseball, and mow his grass with the garden tractor, especially at his pond. He loved his animals, especially his cocker spaniels, and he loved to guide young people who chose to go into farming.
Survivors include four daughters, Peggy E. (Paul) Miotto, Sally A. Worm, Patricia A. (John) Rowe and Linda E. (Richard) Sporleder, all of Woodstock; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three brothers, John, Harold and Richard.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 14, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 Seminary Ave., Woodstock. It will continue from 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, until the 11 a.m. funeral at Grace Lutheran Church, 1300 Kishwaukee Valley Road, Woodstock. The Rev. Arthur Bergren will officiate.
Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name, may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
