Philip "Gank" Posadas, 84, of Plainville passed away on Sunday, with his family by his side, August 29, 2010, at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.
He was the beloved husband for 63 years to Audrey (Holmes) Posadas. Philip was born on June 24, 1926, in New Britain to the late Juan and Serefina Posadas.
Philip served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a lifelong Plainville resident and retired from Plainville Casting. Philip was a member of the Plainville VFW Post 574 and was a proud member for 22 years of the Plainville Fire Department. He also was a founding member of his "Garage Club," where some of the old timers from Plainville would come to solve the problems of the world over coffee in Philip's very own garage. He adored his family and will be forever in all of their hearts.
He leaves his only son Jimmy Posadas and his wife, Jackie, of Plainville, two grandchildren David Posadas and his wife, Cindy, of Southington and Shannon Hughes and her husband Tom of Plainville and four grandchildren Megan and Ryan Posadas of Southington and Hannah and Zach Hughes of Plainville. He also leaves his brother Tony Posadas of Bristol and his sister Isabelle Cassidy of Plainville, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Juana Posadas, three brothers and four sisters Joe, Ray, Angelo, Mary, Lita, Josephine and Juana.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad St. Plainville.
Family and friends may gather an hour before from 9-10 a.m.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in West Cemetery.
