Marshall Austin Jr.
WEST POINT – Marshall Henry "Sonny" Austin Jr., 71, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at West Point Community Living Center. He was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Lauderdale County Mississippi to Girtie Barnette Austin and Marshall Henry Austin Sr. He was a truck driver, and he was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Berlin Crisis.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ben Yarber officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy Encinas (Patrick) of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Marshall "Mike" Perry Austin of San Marcos, Texas; five grandchildren; one sister, Rita A. Christopher (Al) of West Point; one brother, Garey Austin (Pat) of Tuscumbia, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Chuck" Austin.
Pallbearers will be Paxton Austin, Eddie Ricks, Billy Bennett, Jimmy Littlefield, Lynn Allen Rogers and Danny Rogers.
Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
