WEST POINT - Charles Barney "Chuck" Austin, 64, died March 1, 2010, at the Veterans Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. from Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. James Towery officiating. The body will be at the church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday 5-8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home. Mr. Austin was born Dec. 25, 1945, in Calhoun City to the late Girtie Barnett Austin and Marshall Henry Austin. Mr. Austin worked with Holnam Industries, Babcock and Wilcox Co. and was a homebuilder for 32 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Hilda V. Austin, of West Point; daughter, Stacy Ricks; son, Paxton Austin; one grandson; sister, Rita Christopher, all of West Point, brothers, M.H. Austin Jr., of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Garey Austin, of Tuscumbia, Ala. Pallbearers will be Dewey Cox, Jonathan Edwards, Eugene Oswalt, Tim Golson, Jimmy Littlefield, and Henry Myers.
