DANIEL HOAG FUNERAL

Services Held at Home Northeast of
Ridott.

RIDOTT, April 7 - The funeral of the late Daniel Hoag occurred yesterday morning at nine o'clock, five miles northwest of Ridott, and the interment was made in the Ridott cemetery. Mr. Hoag died suddenly last Saturday at twenty minutes past twelve. He had not been well for two weeks, but his condition was not considered serious. The day of his death, he ate dinner as usual, shortly before noon. Five minutes before the end came he sat in his chair reading. The cause of his sudden demise is attributed to heart failure. The relatives and friends in the community were greatly shocked as the sad intelligence sped swiftly from home to home. The deceased was born fifty-five years ago at the place of his death and had always resided in this community. His parents preceded him in death by several years. His father, John Hoag, was one of the earliest settlers in this part of the country and at the time of his death was the oldest. Daniel Hoag was a well known, industrious and well-to-do farmer and a respected resident in the community in which he lived. He leaves two brothers and three sisters, viz. Dr. E.J. Hoag of Ridott; Charles Hoag of Jennings, La.; Mrs. Howard Stevens of Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Diana Cole of Esterbrook, Iowa; and Miss Alma Hoag with the deceased made his home. Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Cole came from their respective homes to attend the funeral of which Rev. Cookingham of Rock City, was in charge.
