Dudley D. Harvell, 79, of Taylorville, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville.

He was born March 14, 1923, in Searcy County, Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army as Military Police at Ft. Bragg during World War II. He was owner of Harvell and Sons Sanitation. He married Norma Mills on January 16, 1971, in Owaneco. His memberships included the Free Methodist Church in Taylorville, the VFW and American Legion.

Surviving are his daughters, Missy and husband Mark Randolph of Texas, Cherilyn Harris and Christine Manzi, both of Taylorville, and Kathy and husband Michael Hemmer of Oregon; sons, Tom and wife Karen Harvell of Taylorville and Steven Harvell of Oregon; step-children, Terry and wife Paula Patton, Linda Canale, and Kathy Claus, all of Taylorville; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelli Harvell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Sutton Memorial Home Chapel, Taylorville, with Pastor Greg Nitchman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 24, 2002, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home
