"Beeville Bee Picayune", Wed. June 13, 1990, A-Page 3 (Beeville, Texas). Robert Bruce "R.B" Allen, 76, died Friday at his home in George West [Texas]. Graveside services and burial were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the George West Cemetery, with the Rev. Morrie Walworth officiating. Pallbearers were Pat McWhorter, Mike McWhorter, Bill Stubbins, Holman Massey, Carl Williams and Reid Holloman. Funeral Arrangement were under the direction of Galloway and Sons of Three Rivers. Mr. Allen was born June 16, 1913 in Pearsall [Texas] to Annie Leah (Rhode) and Edmund Lee Allen. He served with the U.S. Army in Europe and North Africa during World War II. A graduate of Texas A&I University, [see jr. & sr. photos in 1940 &'41 El Rancho yearbooks online]he was a retired petroleum engineer and was a farmer. He was a member of the United Methodist church. He married Gay McWhorter on March 19, 1955 in Beeville. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Gay Allen of George West.
