Obituary from "Beeville Bee Picayune" Thursday, Sept. 7, 1978 page 2: Will Orr Allen, 72, of George West died at 2 a.m. Wednesday in a local nursing home following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Live Oak Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Klose officiating. Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hershal Caron, Vernon Le Bauve, J.R. Schneider, W.H. Canfield, Robert L. Dirks and Leonard C. Smith. The son of the late Edmund Lee and Annie Lea (Leah) Allen, he was born in Pearsall Sept. 22, 1905. He was a rancher and had resided in Live Oak County for 50 years. He is survived by two brothers, Webb Allen and R. V. (should be B.) Allen of George West; one nephew Robert Allen of George West; two nieces JoAnn Allen of Oregon and Mr. Alice Ann Basett of Huntsville; two great nieces and one great nephew. Galloway's Live Oak Funeral Home.
(Will's death certificate 013-00-4 0130 gives Huber Manor Nursing Home, Hwy.52, as where he died after 7 months with a brain tumor). Informant was Jim Bassett.)
Will lived with the family through at least 1940 having never married that I can find. In Oct 1940 he completed his Registration card as a "self employed person living in Oakville. He was 6'1", wt. 145, brown eyes and hair. All the brothers seem to have been tall. He was head of household for his mother and oldest brother Ellwood in the 1940 census.
