Mrs. VanPelt died Sunday in a local hospital. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Born in LaPlata, Mo., on Jan. 30, 1884, Mrs. VanPelt moved to Portland in 1925. She lived at 2545 SW Terwilliger Blvd. and was a founder of the Genealogical Forum of Portland.
Surviving are her son Charles of Glendale, Calif., two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

In January 1946, Dorothy "Rachel" (Clark) Van Pelt and two fellow members of her DAR sewing circle, Miss Caroline Higley and Daisy (Shrader) Smith, decided to form a genealogical society in Portland, Oregon, that they named the Genealogical Forum (GFO). She was actively involved with the organization until shortly before her death in 1975.
