Memorial service for Rachel C. VanPelt, a longtime Portland resident and homemaker, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes. She was 90.
Mrs. VanPelt died Sunday in a local hospital. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Born in LaPlata, Mo., on Jan. 30, 1884, Mrs. VanPelt moved to Portland in 1925. She lived at 2545 SW Terwilliger Blvd. and was a founder of the Genealogical Forum of Portland.
Surviving are her son Charles of Glendale, Calif., two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

She was actively involved with the organization until shortly before her death in 1975.
