Mother of Alfred Earl Cardwell, Jr
My memories of "Momma C" bring to mind vacations to the family farm. The Cardwell farm was located just outside of Ashland, Wisconsin, and had chickens and cows. A small smile crosses my face as I remember some of the following short stories...
The old outhouse. My younger brother (perhaps 5 at the time) went out to use the old outhouse (on a dare from me, I believe) and came racing back into the farmhouse yelling "it bit me, it bit me!" It was then noted that the old cracked seat needed replacing.
When "Momma Cat" had kittens I latched onto a small black kitten I named Midnight and grandma helped me line a small basket in which I carried the poor little thing around. I did have strict orders, however, to return the kitten back to momma for regular feedings.
Momma C always had a huge garden full of veggies, watermelon and strawberries. It was always a treat to go out and work in the garden with her.
You are dearly missed.
