Edward Zavada, resident of Jessup, died July 22, 2011 at the Lackawana Health and Rehab Center after an extended illness. Eddie was born on August 5, 1929 in Jessup, to the late Mary (Hreha) and Michael Zavada. He was a graduate of Jessup High School in 1946 and served in the US Army in Japan. He worked at the Farview State Hospital, RCA, and the United States Post Office in Jessup until his retirement. In 1956, he married his soul mate Joan Dembrosky, and they enjoyed 53 years together until her death in February 2010. He was an avid bowler, rolling several perfect games, and golfer where he recorded 2 hole in one's. He will be remembered for his warm smile, thoughtfulness and generous spirit. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan and siblings Mary and Michael. The funeral will be Monday at 9 from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 at Holy Ghost Catholic Byzantine Church, Jessup. Interment will be at the parish cemetery, Jessup. Parastas Sunday at 5:30 pm. In keeping with Eddie's wishes, friends may call at The Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church Street, Jessup on Sunday from 6 to 8pm.
