Hazel was united in marriage with James Yax on February 12, 1955 in Lake Township, and he survives her. She was employed in housekeeping and laundry at the Caro Regional Center for fourteen years, retiring in 1979.
Hazel was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge and the Caro Eagles. She enjoyed her grandchildren, Bingo, casino trips, scratch off lottery tickets, and loved eating breakfast at the Caro Big Boy Restaurant.
Hazel is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, James "George" Yax; her children, Barbara Yax of Caro, James "Randy" Yax of Mexico, Julie (Yax) & Nick Checkley of Caro, Betty (Yax) & Albert Harris of Caro, Peggy Yax of Caro; six grandchildren, James D. Yax of Caro, Pamela Jo Nagy of Caro, Sharon Yax of California, James Randall Yax II of California, Amy Harris of Caro, Ryan Harris of Caro; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and Jayla of Caro; three sisters, Lorene Bryant, Edith & Jack Parsons, Judy & John Albin, all of Middlesboro, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Louise Raines; and one brother, Andy Pruitt.
In keeping with Hazel's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was planned for a later date.
