Mary Elizabeth Killion, age 89, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born December 16, 1923, in Fulton, Kansas, the daughter of Carl C. Chaplin and Hannah Elizabeth Sheat Chaplin. She married James Killion on April 6, 1946. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1959. Mary had a strong faith in Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and working in her garden.

Survivors include two sons, John Killion and wife, Cathy and Thomas Killion all of Ft. Scott; three grandchildren Michael Killion and wife, Diane of Springfield, Missouri, Bobby Killion and wife, Mindy, of Ft. Scott, Kansas, and Lori Westhoff and husband, Ron, of Assaria, Kansas and ten great-grandchildren, Seth, Andrew, Trevor, Hannah, Caitlyn, Chelsea and Hunter Killion and Coleman, Carter and Cooper Westhoff. Also surviving are a brother, Everett Chaplin and two sisters, Clara Belle Page and Velma Dyche all of Ft. Scott; an aunt, Lilly May Collins, Iola, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Barnum, a brother Virgil Chaplin and two infant brothers, Carl David Chaplin and Paul Winford Chaplin.

Rev. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 13th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Since Mary twice survived cancer, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O.
