George Farris was born ca. 1799 in Madison County, Kentucky. In 1810 this area along watercourse Negro Creek became part of Rockcastle County, Kentucky. His parents were Moses Farris Sr.(1759-1841) and Louisa (Colter) Farris.
George Farris married Evaline McCown around 1830 in Rockcastle County. George and Evaline (McCown) Farris lived in the "Negro Creek Section" of Rockcastle County until their deaths. They raised eight children. George Farris died between 1867 and 1870 as Evaline is listed widowed on the 1870 census.

Believed to be one of the graves near three cedar trees marked only with field stones that predate the Civil War. George died between 1860 and 1870.
