Poet, novelist and playwright. Very much influenced by Victor Hugo, he was an exponent of the Theatre of the Absurd (that includes many European playwrights such as Samuel Beckett, Eugène Ionesco, Jean Genet, Harold Pinter, Vaclav Havel, etc.); following director François Truffaut's piece of advice, he also wrote notes in the "Cahiers du cinema". He died of cancer.
