Clara McLaughlin of Longmont died at Beatrice Hover Assisted Living on Saturday, November 9. She was 100.

Clara was born on January 12, 1913 in Frank, Russia to Johannes and Louise (Fahrenbruch) Lebsack. She was married to Donald J. McLaughlin on April 24, 1941 in Berthoud, Colorado. The couple lived in Loveland and Washington, D.C. before moving to Longmont in 1978.

Clara worked as a retail manager for Montgomery Ward, a teller for a bank and as a substitute teacher. But her most important job was as a mom and homemaker. Clara was a volunteer at Longmont United Hospital, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Longmont, involved with the UMW and with Eastern Star.

Mrs. McLaughlin was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, her parents, four brothers: Carl, Ted, Alec, Gus, and Ed Lebsack and by two sisters: Pauline Lebsack and Lydia Klein.

Clara is survived by her son Dennis and his wife Judy of Annandale, VA, and three grandsons: Morgan Anson of San Francisco, CA, Matthew McLaughlin of Brooklyn, NY, and Martin McLaughlin of Oakland, CA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and will be missed by those who knew her.
