Alberta Lee Compton, 83, of Collierville, TN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2013. She was an active member of and volunteer for the Collierville Presbyterian Church. Ms. Compton also dedicated her time to Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years and with the Regional Medical Center with more than 6000 hours of time donated. Ms. Compton was a charter member of the Johnson Auxiliary, volunteering in the NICU and nursery at The Med. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Arthur "Bill" Compton. She is survived by her sons Gary (Kathy) Compton and Mark (Melanie) Compton; three sisters, Doris Mills, Julia Latham and Jean Oberle; grandchildren Ashley Compton, Brad (Cary) Compton, Tori Compton and Callie Compton; and three great-grandchildren Caleb, Kinleigh and Kyleigh Compton. The family will receive guests from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. prior to funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. all on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Collierville Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery and Dr. Warner Davis of Collierville Presbyterian Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 498 Halle Parkway, Collierville, TN 38017.
