Of Bellevue Expires
Joseph Lester Burleigh, 91 years, retired farmer of the Bellevue section, died this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Charles Lavergne, with whom he resided. He had been in ill health for several years.
The body is resting at Lafond and Son funeral home. The Rosary will be recited there tonight at eight o'clock and services will be read at a requiem mass tomorrow morning at nine o'clock at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grand Coteau. Interment will be in the adjacent cemetery.
Mr. Burleigh, widely known resident of St. Landry, had celebrated his golden wedding anniversary 16 years ago. His wife died the following year.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lavergne of Bellevue; five sons, John of Opelousas, Lester of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leo of New Orleans, Edgar of Port Barre, and Francis of Jeanerette, 16 grand-children and 17 great-grand children.
