Frank Oscar Irvin Sr.

Frank Oscar Irvin Sr., 75, Duncansville, died Tuesday at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Dale and Carolyn (Franks) Irvin. He married Nancy L. Fix on Aug. 21, 1958, in Martinsburg.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years; two sons: Frank O. Jr. and wife, Judith A., of Altoona and Jeffery S. of Duncansville; three grandchildren: Jessica L. Zorger and husband, Christopher, of Hollidaysburg, Stacey L. Salyards and husband, Adam, of Duncansville and Frank O. Irvin III of Altoona; two great-grandchildren: Kimberly and Kassandra Salyards; three sisters: Shirley Stump of State College, Mary Lou Garman of Tyrone and Judith Eger of Duncansville; a brother, Gerald of Bellwood; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Dale Jr. and Joseph; and a sister, Janet Montgomery.
Frank was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School. He had been employed with Berwind Railway Service Co., SKF, Small Tube Products Inc. and J.C. Penney and was a KFC franchise owner for 30 years. He was a member of Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church, Duncansville, and the Genesis Sunday school class and served on various church councils.
Frank was a 32nd-degree Freemason and had been a Mason since 1973. He belonged to Shriners International, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Altoona Shrine Club and Portage Lodge, F&AM. He enjoyed taking pictures, the ocean, projects, fishing and being with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 14, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church, Duncansville, by Pastor Rich Morris. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
