Janet Marion Montgomery, 76, Juniata, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ early Tuesday morning at her home.
She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late Dale E. and Carolyn J. (Franks) Irvin. She married Eugene G. Montgomery on May 8, 1954, at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, Juniata.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Gene; a daughter, Sherrill Ann Sanders and husband, Danny, of Altoona; a son, Eugene G. II and wife, Denise, of Cleona; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters: Shirley Stump of State College, Mary Lou Garman of Altoona and Judith Eger of Duncansville; two brothers: Frank Irvin and wife, Nancy, of Duncansville and Gerald Irvin and wife, Nancy, of Bellwood; and also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: infant Dale Irvin Jr. and Joseph Irvin.
Janet was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired in 1998 from Items International/Airwalk and previously had been employed at the Pennsylvania Shoe Co., McLanahan Corp. and most recently, United Computer Products. She was a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Delphi Chapter.
Friends will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, Pastor Ralph Hamer officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Janet's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
