Marguerite graduated from Bridge Academy in Dresden and after graduation moved to Damariscotta and was employed as a waitress at several local restaurants. On March 4, 1960 she married Schuyler Fairfield, moved to Wiscasset, and together owned and operated Fairfield Signs of Wiscasset until present.

Marguerite was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, the Wiscasset Lions Club, the Alna Cemetery Association, and the former Business Professional Women's Club.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, knitting and especially spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Benjamin Bailey, Winthrop Bailey, and Linwood Bailey; and sister, Marjorie Colpitt Adams.
