James Fred Brown, Jr. "Buddy", 79, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with the Rev. Burley Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
James was born Nov. 23, 1924, to the late James F. Brown Sr., and Tempe Jones Brown in Guilford County. He graduated from Bessemer High School. He was a member of the Central Carolina Boat Club, NC Movers Association. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and president of the E.T. Club
James spent his life working hard and helping everyone and was an avid sportsman. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Huckabee and brother Clifton Brown.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Margaret B. Brown of the home; children, Sharon B. Wright and husband Jerry of Liberty, Rigdon G. Brown and wife, Janie of Advance; grandchildren, Jerry W. Wright Jr. "Jay" of Greensboro, Jason Gary Brown "Jake" of Advance, Andrew James Brown of Clemmons, Elizabeth LEplattenier of High Point; great-grandchildren, Emily Wright of Berlin, Germany, William LEplattenier of High Point, Amber Beth Wright of Greensboro; sister Ollie Mellusi of Greensboro, Claudine Fox of Virginia Beach, Va., Montrose Pennisi of Greensboro, Lillian Mae May of Greensboro; brother Charles H. Brown Sr., of McLeansville; and several nieces and nephews.
