Benjamin, son of Isaac Huntington, was born at Norwich, February 22, 1736. He was chosen to succeed his father in the office of town clerk, March 5, 1764, and resigned the post to his son Phillip. He was one of the selectmen, with Barnabas, Samuel Tracy, and Elijah Brewster, who called together the first revolutionary meeting held in Norwich, June 6, 1774. "He married, March 5, 1767, Mary, widow of James Noyes Brown and daughter of Joseph and Mary (Huntington) Carew. She died April 24, 1777."


Children born in Norwich:
1. Mary, born March 8, 1768. She married, October 29, 1791, Gardner Carpenter, and lived in Norwich.
2. Phillip, born September 26, 1770. He married, January 17, 1796, Phila Grist, who died November 30, 1806, aged 38. He was chosen town clerk, immediately on the death of his father, September 11, 1801, and served in this office until his death, which took place February 4, 1825.
3. Alice, born March 21, 1773. She married, in 1802, William Baldwin, and died, having had no children.
4. Daniel, born June 10, 1776. He married, in November, 1803, Sarah Potter, of New London, and died, without children, October 12, 1805. His wife was born December 23, 1780, and died, April 8, 1850, as her grave stone attests.
